Intervju med THE TELSTAR SOUND DRONE på Roskilde festivalen

Mads, Hans & Rockharder

You played at Pavilion on monday. How was it?
Great. We were far away from the audience since it was a big stage. That was both good and bad. We are more used to playing at smaller venues where the audience is more closeby.

How long have you been playing together?
Me and Mads have played together before but wanted to do something together. Like a sort of music collective where the sound could develop without the insight of others.

Why do you call yourself THE TELSTAR SOUND DRONE?
Its a comment to society, since satelite technology was the first covering communication throughout the planet.

Which is your musical vision or mission?
To open up peoples eyes. To show people something beautiful we want to play. Also we want to stop people from the commercial music. We are glad to have an audience to play to.

What makes TTSD stand out musically?
I guess maybe the postmodern thing. We dont strive to be retro, were no timemachine, no 60's copycats. We have our own sound, without trying to sound like someone else.

How long has the band been active?
Me and Mads have played together since 2001 but the band has existed for 2 years.

Wich are your influences?
Manely Psych and obscure albums. Like PAINTED FACES, THE ROLLING STONES, THE FUGS, SPIRITUALIZED, BABY WOODROSE and DRAGONTEARS. Electro acustic stuff.

Do you spend equal time on creating the lyrics as on the compositions?
Kind of equally I think. But most time on the music, the emphasis is more instrumental. Hans is the one that writes the lyrics.

What do you have planned for the band in the near future?
We dont have any studio booked. Our focus now lies on creating new material.

Roskilde festivalen hade ju just börjat!
